I am notorious for not wearing proper winter clothes.  I like to leave the house in only a sweater or sports coat when down jackets and ski caps are necessary.  I think I must be trying to fool myself into believing that it is still Fall.  However, every year there comes a time when I can no longer pull the wool over my eyes (so to speak) any more.  That time has come.  I have busted out my big overcoat and my hat with the sides that flop down over my ears.  I surender to you, oh, Winter, I surender (what is that, Bixby?).Well, it might be getting a bit chillier outside, but there is plenty of red hot gossip and news happening on the rialto.  I hope these tidbits warm you up - unle...

When I was a freshman in high school Patti O'Brien and I decided to audition for the fall production of Our Town.  I was so nervous, but Patti really helped me out and gave me confidence. After school we headed to the auditions where we would compete with the older more experienced thespians.  There was Becky Pusta, Dave Something or Other, Adrienne Pussy (was that really her name?), and Tommy Blackwell.  My memory is not what it used to be. When it came to audition, I was a wreck.  But the director, Peggy Andre, must have seen something in me - probably a warm body willing to rehearse after school ever day.It was almost unheard of for freshmen to be cast in the fall play (am I bragging ...

    Shrek the Musical

Thank goodness for Friday.  It has been a long week.  First the Clay Aiken controversy.  (Wow, I can't even count to 450, let alone read all those comments -  Yikes).  And then the news that Rent is closing.  ( Ugh, too sad).  I just had no idea that it would be such a roller coaster of a week.  Actually - to be completely honest - it was a terrific week!  It was so fun hearing from so many of you.  More comments everyone!  I love when you readers tell us what you are thinking.  You can agree with me.  Disagree with me.  Yell at me.  Call me names.  Go for it.  I love the exchange of info!  I don't want this to always be a one side conversation.  That being said - I have s...

In the words of Neil Simon's Star Spangled Girl "I have tried to be neighborly, I have tried to be friendly and I have tried to be cordial...I don't know what it is that you [Clay Aiken] are trying to be!"  Has anyone seen THIS.  Clay Aiken sat down for an interview with Newsweek to talk about his upcoming stint on Broadway in the hit musical Spamalot.  The results are TERRIBLE.  Mr. Aiken is grumpy and down right rude.  Now, before we get into the details, I would like to set the record straight.  I watch American Idol.  I watched the season Clay was on.  I liked Clay Aiken on the show.  I may have even voted for him (yes, I vote sometimes).  To tell you the truth, I may have even...

Breaking News.  Clay Aiken is going to make his Broadway debut in Spamalot!  Yup, that is right folks.  Clay Aiken, American Idol star, will be rockin' "the Broadway" from January 18th - May 4th, 2008.  Wow!  Wow!  Wow!  I don't even know where to begin.  I am speechless.  I guess I will let others do the talking for me.  (These are quotes from the press release.)Director Mike Nichols said: "Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice.  Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character.  People will be surprised by his wide ranging talent, since the first impression is of great country charm and a singer to remember.  This guy is not only a star, he is a lo...

"The Broadway" is not for the faint of heart.  Yesterday the producers of Lone Star Love, the new musical inspired by The Merry Wives of Windsor and featuring Randy Quaid in his Bway debut, announced that the show would not be making it's way to NYC. The show is off, cancelled, proving that theater can be a cruel cruel "lover".   Lone Star Love is currently finishing up its pre-Broadway try out in Seattle at the 5th Avenue Theatre, but the planned move to New York on November 1st will NOT take place.  The move is shocking and unexpected.  No one knows exactly what is going on, but there have been rumors surrounding the production.  A recent article in the NY Post went to great length t...
