The film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter and directed by Tim Burton will open (in limited release) on Friday December 21st.  Are you too too excited!  I have seen the movie and I can't wait to chat with you all about it, but I am even more excited to see how it is going to do with audiences across the country.  I am really hoping it is going to be a mega-hit, if only so all those movie-musicals that are "in development" will get the green-light for production.  Sweeney seems to be cleaning up on the awards circuit.  If the reviews are good I think we can expect it to continue to pick up more nominations (did someone say Academy...

Tonight, December 19th, LaKisha Jones the powerhouse singer and American Idol top 4 finalist will make her debut on "the Broadway" in The Color Purple.  Ms. Jones will step into the role of the Church Soloist and serve as the cover for the part of Sofia.LaKisha is the second American Idol vet to join the production.  Fantasia Barrino (who won the A.I. competition) has been winning favorable notices in the show for some time now (even if her attendance is somewhat spotty).  You haven't heard about this?  Oh, well, apparently Fantasia has missed nearly 50 performances since she took over for LaChanze in The Color Purple.  There have been big brouhahas about it (I have NO idea if that is h...
