You've never heard of The Cujo®? The prestigious award given out in the world of theater? Well, I suppose there was a time when people had not heard of the Oscar or the Tony. Every award has to have a beginning and this is the begi...

Reminder to self; don't take the red-eye from California to New York. Ugh. I flew in to the City today and arrived at 5:30am. What was I thinking? Crammed into a middle seat in coach I slept most of the trip but it was that uncomfo...

Today I am doing some "VacaBlogging" - that is blogging while on vacation. It is very tricky. Ok, it isn't tricky at all. I am in San Diego for the holidays - a little respite from the chilly NYC weather. Here in S.D. it is warm during the day but nippy at night, making for a nice festive atmosphere. Thus the hard part of VacaBlogging - all I want to do is be outside. Seriously, it is swell to get away from the rat race and kick back and relax, but I have been doing some research and have some B'way news and info for ya. Are ya ready? Let's do it. Here comes VacaBlogging...It might be the holiday season but it doesn't seem like "the busiest actress/singer on the face of the...

Now that the presents have all been unwrapped, the stockings have all been unstuffed and the holiday dinners have all been uneaten (you know what I mean, yuck) it is time to turn our attention to the post Christmas/pre New Years tradition of list making. This is the time when we look back at the year that was and find ways to list things in numerical order of preference. That is a fancy way of saying - it is time to put together a TOP TEN list.I find it almost impossible to put together a Top Ten list. A.) because I haven't seen everything there is to see and B.) because I have a terrible memory (not an excuse, just a fact). So I have compiled a list of my favorites (in no particular...

Are you enjoying the holiday season? Taking a little time off of from work, doing some shopping, going to parties, chugging down an extra eggnog because tomorrow you can sleep in because it's, well, it's the holidays? That may be true for YOU but not for the hard working folks on Broadway. While the rest of us celebrate they still have to perform (8 shows a week) and try to squeeze in their holiday plans backstage and between shows. I thought it would be fun to find out how some B'way vets spend their holidays so I caught up with Becca and Heather Ayers to find out how these Broadway Babies balance their show biz with their holiday biz.Becca and Heather Ayers are sisters and they are b...

When Johnny Depp, in the role of Sweeney Todd, rests his razor on the throat of an unsuspecting customer in his makeshift barber palace atop Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop the results are more than a close shave. Each time Depp rips his blade across an...

I am a politico freak and I have become obsessed with the upcoming election. I follow all the campaigns, I read every article in the paper, I surf the candidate websites, I watch the debates, I follow the polls...I am relentlessly involved in the process of selecting our next president. I don't know why. It is not new. I remember when I was a child I had a neighborhood newspaper called the "Orange Original". It was written outside in my orange pup tent, thus the name, and I would scribe scathing editorials about the candidates for president. I was 7 years old - so you can imagine what scintillating ideas I was putting forth. Once in awhile my two passions collide; politics meet...

I wanted to bring you this bit of breaking news, right away... The Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone announced today that it will close on December 30th, 2007. The production, currently starring Bob Saget and Cindy Williams, has played 674...

The film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter and directed by Tim Burton will open (in limited release) on Friday December 21st. Are you too too excited! I have seen the movie and I can't wait to chat with you all about it, but I am even more excited to see how it is going to do with audiences across the country. I am really hoping it is going to be a mega-hit, if only so all those movie-musicals that are "in development" will get the green-light for production. Sweeney seems to be cleaning up on the awards circuit. If the reviews are good I think we can expect it to continue to pick up more nominations (did someone say Academy...

Tonight, December 19th, LaKisha Jones the powerhouse singer and American Idol top 4 finalist will make her debut on "the Broadway" in The Color Purple. Ms. Jones will step into the role of the Church Soloist and serve as the cover for the part of Sofia.LaKisha is the second American Idol vet to join the production. Fantasia Barrino (who won the A.I. competition) has been winning favorable notices in the show for some time now (even if her attendance is somewhat spotty). You haven't heard about this? Oh, well, apparently Fantasia has missed nearly 50 performances since she took over for LaChanze in The Color Purple. There have been big brouhahas about it (I have NO idea if that is h...
